
Come out and support our girls varsity soccer team in its first match of the year. The girls will scrimmage Middletown at Livingston Manor at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1.


The staff is back and ready to get the year started. Roscoe and Livingston Manor held a joint conference day at RCS on Wednesday, Aug. 31. Faculty and staff from both districts heard updates from Superintendent John Evans, listened to an entertaining and informative presentation from Dr. Stephen “Bird” Bichak, enjoyed a lunch and heard a presentation on the proposed merger of the school. Roscoe will have a second conference day at RCS on Thursday, Sept. 1. We all look forward to see our students on Tuesday, Sept. 6!





The Roscoe Central School Board meeting scheduled for today, Aug. 23, has been postponed to Aug. 30 at 3 p.m.

Roscoe Central School officially gained a Hall of Famer on July 27. Fred Ahart, known simply as "Coach" to many in the area, was among those inducted into the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame, at a ceremony in Lake Placid. Roscoe Central School is adding a summer recreation program. It will run from July 11 to Aug. 4 from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursdays for students in third through sixth grades. The program will offer students the opportunity to be physically active with many physical education-based activities available. Participants should report to the gymnasium at 1 p.m. to begin the day's session, which will include indoor and outdoor activates. All who are attend will be required to be picked up at the rear entrance in the back parking lot by 4 p.m. For more information email alarson@roscoe.k12.ny.us.

Pre-K students had plenty of end of the year fun,, with Pajama Day, a field trip, Bubbles/Chalk day and Beach Day.





Kindergarten students shared their library books with soft and fuzzy reading buddies recently.




Fifth grade Home & Careers students recently wrapped up the year with an apple pie rollup baking activity.


Field Days for Pre-K through 4th grades were held last week. The kids took part in several activities including an obstacle course, water bottle flipping, musical chairs, Twister, bubbles, chalk drawing, tug-of-war and more. More photos will be posted later.

The Hurleyville Performing Arts Centre is in the middle of a yearlong strategic planning process that will guide its work for the next three to five years. The goal is to make the art center a bigger and a positive presence in our region and they want to make sure they are offering the programs that people want and need. The third grade classroom was turned into a campground earlier this week with tents, s'mores, and a roaring campfire on the smartboard.




Roscoe Central School held its Kindergarten Program on June 9 in the auditorium to acknowledge the students achievements in kindergarten and moving up to first grade.




Academic Awards/Stepping Up Ceremony 2022 was held Tuesday in the gym. Awards were given to students is fifth through 12th grade. Seniors were recognized for Stepping Out and 11th grade was recognized for Stepping Up to be the new seniors for 2023. Eight grade was also recognized for officially becoming High Schoolers. Some special awards for outstanding citizenship were also given out.

All seventh through 12th grade students must have physicals before taking part in fall sports (cross country, football and soccer). They may be done at the school or with a student's primary care provider. Physicals will be held at Roscoe Central School at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10. All students should show up 30 minutes before their appointment for vitals and screenings, with completed forms. The third and fourth grade students spent the day Thursday, June 9, at Museum Village in Monroe to learn about life in the Hudson Valley in the 19th century.
